I was arrested under suspicion of drugs. Irfan represented me at the police station and I followed Irfan’s advice when i was interviewed and did as he said. I was then released on bail. The service I received from Shafi Solicitors was beyond excellent. My case has taken over 2 years to come to a conclusion, during this time I have found Mr Urfan Mahmood to be continually professional, attentive and compassionate in what has been a very stressful time. Throughout the whole process I have been kept updated and informed on all aspects of the case. Any queries and questions where promptly answered. I was facing charges of benefit fraud. I was an appointee for a family member and did not realise I was responsible for informing DWP of all changes in circumstances due to this I was charged with benefit fraud. From the beginning I was advised to accept full responsibility for my actions. Mr Urfan Mahmood treated me with utmost respect and patience and was not at all judgemental. I was looking at a possible custodial sentence, being a mother and carer to an ailing aunt, this would have had devastating consequences, not just for me but my children too. After I was charged my solicitors negotiated with the CPS for the more serious charges being dropped and this made all the difference as it meant I went from a position where I was definitely going to prison to having a chance of a suspended sentence and in the end that’s what happened. I pleaded guilty to the charges, so the efforts of Mr Urfan Mahmood and his team were focused on securing the best possible sentencing outcome. Where do I begin?.... I found my self in a situation..in a deep hole with the police, my friends and family were worried of my mental health, so i was recommended by a friend to go get in contact with Urfan at shafi Solicitors. I was so stressed i could not sleep, night, eat and I found myself unable to work due to the stress and worry. Once I contact Urfan he was kind enough to invite me to see him. Urfan agreed to take this case and reassured me, however due to my mental health I still was unable to sleep and was in a contestant worry, I would always ring Urfan and and ask 100 questions, what touched me the most about Urfan was that he would answer my call 24/7 literally, I recall once ringing him on a Sunday afternoon and began to panic over the phone, the fact that he was with his family on his day off he still answered my phone and gave me comfort and this lasted for several months nd he would always answer my phone, I felt i was bugging him but he was there always literally 247 he answered my calls at midnight and would speak to me for as long as he calmed me down. eventually he managed to get my case dropped and I was able to continue my life. I’d like to thank Urfan Mahmood for what he has done for me. My only options seemed like jail at the time he told me from the beginning I wouldn’t be going there and did exactly what he said he could. I instructed Shafi solicitors in 2017 after a recommendation from a family member who has been a client of Urfan the senior partner for 20 years. I was charged with very serious matters and if convicted was looking at a long time in prison. Urfan immediately put me at ease and dealt with my case from the beginning. He guided me through the matter which was going to trial in the crown court. I was extremely concerned but Urfan drafted my defence expertly. On the second day of the trial after challenging certain parts of the prosecution evidence the CPS dropped all charges. I couldn't believe it. Fast forward to 2019. I am again arrested for similar very serious charges. I was refused bail twice. Urfan told me not to worry and then I was eventually bailed. Again as the trail approached in the crown court I was told that the allegations were again very serious and if found guilty I was looking at a long sentence. However Urfan assured he was planning the case strategy and that once he had submitted the defence case things would change. A few days before the crown court trial I was told by my solicitors that the prosecution had received our defence statement and were not proceeding with the case. I could not believe it. What and outcome. My solicitors really cared and worked hard to achieve the right results on two occasions. Urfan Mahmood was always available when I needed to speak to him and the firm as a whole were magnificent. I could not recommend them enough. If you are facing serious criminal charges I would strongly recommend Urfan and Shafi solicitors.
